Welcome!

I am based in Rochester, NY where I am a humanities scholar, museum studies educator, and cultural heritage imaging researcher whose work bridges the worlds of museums, archives, libraries, technology, and public engagement. At Rochester Institute of Technology, I direct the Museum Studies Program and co-direct the Cultural Heritage Imaging Lab, an interdisciplinary research initiative developed in partnership with RIT’s Chester F. Carlson Center for Imaging Science. I also lead the MUSE Lab, an exhibition & experiential learning lab, where students collaborate with museums, archives, and community organizations on projects that connect scholarship, practice, and public audiences.

My research explores how we uncover, interpret, preserve, and share cultural heritage. Through the development of MISHA (Multispectral Imaging System for Historical Artifacts), I work to make cultural heritage imaging more accessible to institutions and researchers around the world while fostering new opportunities for discovery and stewardship. As Principal Investigator and collaborator on projects supported by the National Endowment for the Humanities and private foundations, I am committed to creating sustainable tools, partnerships, and learning opportunities that strengthen the humanities and expand access to cultural heritage resources.

A defining characteristic of my work is building connections—between people and collections, technology and scholarship, students and professions, and institutions and communities. Across North America, Europe, South America, and North Africa, I collaborate with cultural heritage professionals, scholars, and organizations to create new pathways for research, learning, and public engagement.
